Hey folks!

I decided to gather as much information as possible from you to help me with my decision. So tell me everything you want to do about wrist releases and handheld releases. What do you like about them, why do you prefer the style you shoot and so on.

Let's see what i can tell you:
Currently i shoot a TRU Wirst Release and i am kind of happy with it but the wrist strap starts to disassemble. Furthermore i recognized some problems with the nerves at my wrist after long tournaments (or more than 300 arrows per day).

Furthermore i own a TRU Backtension Release without a Safety and i just cannot shoot it. My bow will fire when drawing it because the angle of my hand is kind of crazy. Also everything feels very unsafe. I feared this device could break. I am still using it now but for my mini compound bow (tuned it from 7lbs to 15lbs...).

Sometimes i already used a friends Evo+. No problem when drawing back when it comes to the feel but i found it to be very...big. Although i have large hands. It is just so much 'wasted' alloy. So i do not like the feel of most Carter Releases. And i do not like any of those backtension releases that work with a spring. I selled my Carter Backstrap after some weeks of seldom use.

But now tell me: What do you shoot, why do you shoot it, what do you like about it or dislike about it, what would you recommend and so on.

Oh, Alex. No Fingers please.

Hi all,
I was at the outdoor shooting range, shooting my jaguar T/D recurve, when I noticed this one gentleman shooting his bow at a slight angle, with his bow in his left hand and pulling back his arrow with his right (right handed archer) his bow was at a slight angle, the top of his bow was toward the right and the bottom of his bow was angled to the left. Like this "/" thats with me watching from behind him. Then I went home and was watching "The best and worse of Tred Barta, and he shoots his longbow the same way.

What's the proper way to shoot a traditional bow, straight up and down, or at an angle? or does it matter?

Thanks.

Hi All,

Glad to find this site. I am an longtime Martin fan, however I have been out of the loop/shooting for the past 20 yrs. Holy smokes how things have changed!

My Martin background; I still own my 1989 Firecat M-44 (wheels) and I want to use it. Now there has been the old adage that limbs weaken and breakdown over time and this can be a real concern. Mine has been stored, not backed completely off/relaxed but at about 35 lbs. It has always been inside in a “controlled environment” and after an good visual inspection of components, I think it is in fine shooting shape. It was never abused or beat to begin with… It was a high end bow in its day, especially for a 25 yr old kid and I took care of it.

Now, I’d like to here from experienced Martin folk, of any concerns I should have and if there is any components that I could get if need be, such as cables or other riser fittings (sights & rests) that will fit it.

For example I want to get a new sight, but in order to get a new fangled sight, it appears that I would have to take off my cable guard bracket that contains the dovetail fitting that “old fashioned” sights used to attach in order to attach a new sight. I could be mistaken, but….. So I am thinking I’ll need a new cable guard that would screw into the handle fitting on the aft side of the riser.

In short, I would really like to use this old warrior and modernize it. It was a fantastic bow for me and by far, the best I have ever owned. Sure its slow compared to today’s new bows speeds, but I am a lot slower than I was 20 yrs ago too..

So do I still have a useable bow?

Any and all opinions welcomed. Thanks in advance.
